I have decided that Hot Wheels are my nemesis!
I love picking them out at the store with my son. They are so tempting because they are so inexpensive and they come in so many cool designs! Honestly, they make good bribery to get my son peacefully out of the store. Yes, I admit bribery is sometimes my method of choice for parenting. I know, shame on me!
I also, had to resort to using Hot Wheels to get my son fully potty trained (again shame on me!) but that was the only reward that seemed to work for us. He would go on the potty and he would get a car. Yes it was expensive for a while but not as expensive as having a 3 year old in diapers!
Ok, so why would Hot Wheels be my nemesis if they have been there for me through all those hard times…. tantrums in the stores and potty training, you ask? Well, now we have 1000’s of Hot Wheels all over our house, hidden in places you would ever guess. Somehow my feet always find them when I have no shoes on and man those little sucker hurt!
Not to mention that every birthday or holiday I tell everyone I know NOT to get my boys any Hot Wheel tracks and low and behold, what shows up in the pile of gifts…. another Hot Wheel track to add to our growing collection!
Seriously, we have too many tracks to count. I am not sure we even have all the pieces because I myself can not get these darn things together and every time I think it is ok for me to throw one or two away or donate them, my son pulls them out of his room and starts playing with them again!
That is why I have decided that Hot Wheels are my nemesis! For all the hurt feet and broken track pieces all over my house! All the cars I am endlessly picking up and putting back where they belong all day long! I say, save me from my Hot Wheel filled world!

One Word…LEGOS
Oh my sons have thousands of hot wheels too! I used to buy them at garage sales by the box and then Walmart and now my mom gives each of them 1-2 every time she sees them! They wouldn’t even work as bribery because they have so many!
Polly Pockets. They are the devil’s spawn, I shit you not.
Creative Junkie–you made me laugh out loud, I shit you not is my all time favorite expletive laden expression 🙂
ha ha me too! I like the Devil’s Spawn part 🙂
I see my future in this post. My son will be three in September, and we have started quite the Matchbox collection. You’re right though, it’s so easy to get caught up in it since they are so inexpensive. They are cheap and easy “bribes” too:)
Wooden blocks are my arch nemesis…those things hurt!
I’m torn between the legos and the hot wheels. All depends on the day.
I totally feel your pain!! For me it is trains and train tracks! Oh and tea party items. I find them EVERYWHERE and then Lizzie wonders why she can’t ever find her things? LOL
OMG that is hilarious! Yes I do have a nemesis and it’s called “The dress up bin”…omg! My girls leave their dress up stuff everywhere and they have far too much of it!
In our home it is definitely the Legos – I ended up buying a vacuum with the clear canister so I could easily find them when I vacuumed them up.
I cant stand Hot Wheels. My son spreads them ALL AROUND. And I’ve broken skin and bled everywhere from them. I should burn them…
I am with you. and legos
See I went on to have boy number two eleven years after the first one and hot wheels were gone but I will have to deal with them again. Not my smartest idea lol!
LOL No one can save you, there is no escape. My son is the same way. He has a huge tub full that he can’t even lift or carry and all he wants for Christmas is more cars!
I’m remembering this for when our boy to be is ready for bribery 🙂 Thanks for the tip hahah!
I know exactly what you mean. I’ve rolled over onto them in my own freakin’ bed! They do make excellent bribes though.
If hot wheels didn’t entertain my two preschoolers for hours they would be my nemesis too. I can’t stand toys that make obnoxious noises. Ugh.
Happy Meal toys they are the WORST they are everywhere and we don’t even go to McDonalds that often but we still have so many of the stupid toys! My son loves Hot Wheels but mommy not so much!
haha, yeah we have the hotwheels problem in our house, too!!
There are 2 things I HATE stepping on… Hot Wheels and Legos! OUCH! If it hurts bad enough I will trash it! 🙂
Dog bones! Maddy loves chewing on bones. Even when I put everything back in the toybox she takes them right back out and leaves them in the middle of the floor!
My son used to leave his little tiny lego pieces everywhere for his dad and I to step on in the middle of the night OUCH!! Now my nemesis is the air soft gun pellets he seems to leave a trail of everywhere! I hate those things!
My nephew had more Hot Wheels than any child I know. He could say Lamborgini before age 2!
Our toys of choice thanks to my son, is Thomas. I could seriously open up a Thomas the train museum at my house-lol!
OHMYGOLLY! No truer words spoken sista!! I swear we have one of those UNDER THE BED hotwheels boxes full of cars…my son, who is now almost 9…really hasn’t touched them in over a year…. but can I get rid of them? HECK NO….! The other for a long time was also itty bitty animals (dollar store) I don’t know if I should be happy that as he as aged he’s grown outta them…but, now…it’s all about the BIG ticket…. Wii games, DS games, full on Lego Sets…. it’s true…the older they get, the size and COST only gets deeper….. makes me appreciate the days of the Hot Wheel…sigh!
