Summer Reading & Boredom Buster Recommendation: BIG Book of How

I am always on the look out for great books, especially during the summer time when often times books simply sit on the shelves and collect dust. Today, I have a great recommendation for kids who have an insatiable appetite for knowledge and endless curiosity. My oldest never stops asking questions about how things work or why things are the way they are, so this book is perfect for us to check out together.

The Big Book of How features 501 Facts Kids Want to Know with facts and answers to questions kids commonly ask about how the world around them works, but adults can rarely answer. What I love about this book is that it is packed with vivid illustrations and although it recommended for kids 8 and up, my 5 year old loves to check out the images and have me read to him from it.

We have discovered the answers to questions such as:

How does a chameleon change colors?

How was Mount Rushmore built?

How to stay safe during an earthquake?

How do you build a spaghetti bridge?

How do diamonds form?

How does an iceberg form?

How do astronauts train for a space mission?

How does a lock work?

How does popcorn pop?

All the information includes detailed explanations, more than 200 colorful photos and diagrams, and over 20 “How to” activities. This is a great book to come up with summer activities, It is very educational yet still fun! We found a “how to” on how to make a super bouncy ball and it is on our “to do” list for net week!

The Big Book of How is divided up by subject areas such as animals, the human body, technology, sports, food and green issues so you can simply open up to the area of your little ones interest and start enjoying!  The book is written in a straightforward and fun style that parents and kids will enjoy together.

The “Deal”icious Mom Crew recommend the Big Book of How for sure!
