The past few days at BlogHer was FULL of firsts for me! I never thought I would have so many new experiences in just three short days! I wanted to share with you what I feel where some life lessons and life changing experiences. Yes, some were very small experiences but the whole conference was rich in memories and moments I will never forget!
Thanks to Candace at DealectibleMommies.com for sticking by me through the whole thing!
Here are my top 10 “firsts” from my time spent at the BlogHer conference this week!
________________________________________________________
1.) First BlogHer or Any Conference for that Matter
I have never been to any conference before and I am glad this one was my first. It was very mellow yet action packed. We were busy, busy and had loads of fun!
2.) First Time Coming in Later Than My Husband Alone!
My husband loves to go to concerts and other events so he is no stranger to coming in late but I am usually fast asleep in bed when he does. Not this week though! I was out at parties and events. Picking up swag and watching (yes, just watching) my friends dance! I was so proud of my self, sneaking in the door with my whole family sleeping soundly! I feel a little like a rebel – ha ha!
3.) First Time Hailing a Cab.
I am a California girl born and raised. I do not see many people hailing cabs where I live. I actually had not even been in a cab until recently so this week when I actually put my arm up and hailed my own cab, I felt like a super blogger!
4.) First Petticab Ride
I have heard and seen petticabs before but never rode in one. I finally did this week twice! My friends from out of town actually thought a petticab was a cab you road in where you get in and they give you pedicures while you ride! LOL! That still makes me laugh! I wish they had something like that!
5.) First Cocktail
The first night of Blogher we went to a Smurfs themed party and I was handed a drink. I did not even think anything about it…. yes I realize I probably should have! Anyway, it was a blue cocktail that included coconut rum and many other things. It was very pretty but also very gross! Either way, it was the first cocktail I had ever drank or actually sipped for a few moments, carried around for a while, and then threw away!
6.) First Time at a Roof Top Party
The above mentioned Smurfs themed party was on the roof top of a hotel! Very cool! I felt a little bad for the people trying to sleep in the hotel but it was so much fun! I made some good connections and grabbed some fun swag.
7.) First Time in a Money Blowing Machine
I know you have seen these – the boxes full of money that you get in a try to grab as much as you can before they stop. I saw it and thought, there is no way they would get me in there BUT then my friend got in and won $35 dollars and I thought – “Come on, Sara, don’t be lame! you could win some money and it is only like 10 seconds of your life!”. So I got in and GUESS WHAT! I won an iPad! No joke! By the way, thanks to RetailMeNot.com for sponsoring the giveaway! As if I did not love RetailMeNot.com already, now I am their biggest fan for life!

8.) First Time I Saw a Flash Mob
Yes, there was a flash mom at BlogHer 11! I was actually caught right in the middle of it when it started. Candace and I were getting drinks at lunch and all of a sudden the music started blaring! I froze because I had no clue what was happening! Then I ran out of the way and watched. Candace taped and I was simply amazed at the group of woman bloggers getting their dance on!
Check out the youtube video the BlogHer Flash Mob Here!
9.) First Massage
I am so excited about this one! I had my first massage! It was simply wonderful and much needed. That is all that is needed to be said. I want another one as soon as possible!
10.) The First Time I Felt Like I Belonged
Yes, this is sappy but I genuinely felt at home with these girls (and a few boys). They spoke my language and enjoyed the things I enjoyed. I did not want to leave San Diego and I wish we could do this every week! To all my new friends and connections, please keep in contact and I hope to see you next year in New York!
How much fun was it!?!?
An iPAD?! So jealous!! I was thrilled with my $20 bucks in the money blower because it paid for lunch. I would have died at an iPad.
haha!
This past weekend was amazing. It was great to meet you (even though I didn’t realize it). I hope to go again next year!
An iPad – that rocks!! Sounds like you had fun!
What a super fun time!! I am bound and determined to go next year!! It sounds like so much fun!!! And congrats on the iPad! That is so awesome!!
Your #1 first just made me get a little teary. Thanks so much for coming!!
That is so awesome that you won an iPad. With the money blowing machine, they gave me $1 cash and a t-shirt.
I was only at the convention for 4 hours on Saturday but had a BLAST. Will definitely be doing the full conference next year.
That sounds awesome! Congratulations on winning the iPad! You know, I’ve never heard of a petticab and I’ve only recently heard of a flash mob on that AT&T commercial… there are just not that kind of thing out here in Indiana! LOL
great post, especially #10!! I also didn’t like the smurf drink. the first sip was good, after that it was all aftertaste. I also took my first TWO pedicab rides.
and you ARE a super blogger 😉
What a great recap!! So glad you enjoyed many amazing firsts … especially belonging!! Hope you’ll be there next year, too!!
Loved reading your firsts and congrats on that iPad!
I thought I posted a comment yesterday, but I don’t see it here…this is an AWESOME list of firsts! Wow on the iPad, and all the other things…I hope I do a lot of firsts on my trip too!
Wow! Sounds like you had an amazing time. You sound just like me about the drink!
