Perhaps your planning that very last family trip in last  few glorious days of summer and you are wondering how you are going to keep the kids happy and ….quiet during the long car ride. Well, thanks to Topps and Bazooka Candy, I  have a great giveaway package for you to try and win today that might help you avert boredom while spending all that time on the road, even if it just a couple minutes!

bbp2As I am sure you know, it’s often difficult to keep the kids quiet and occupied on summer trips.  The Summer Travel Giveaway Package from Topps Trading Cards and Bazooka Candy Brands is a great way to make sitting in the back seat, well, sweet! The package includes Topps Baseball Trading Cards, as well as some yummy treats like sugar free and regular Ring Pop lollipops, Baby Bottle Pop candy, Push Pops, and Juicy Drop Pops.

    We snubbed the DVDs for a couple of years as we didn’t want the kids watching tv for extended periods of time….but sheesh! They are a lifesaver and once in awhile (with regard to lengthy use) isn’t going to hurt them 🙂

    I keep a small tote bags full of “special toys” that we only take out when we travel. I also keep snacks on hand and if it’s a really long ride, we’ll bring along a dvd player. Music is also a must.

    I keep the children happy in the car with coloring books and crayons, portable cd players with headsets and portable dvd players.

    I usually keep a snack bag on hand for when they want some treats. I also try to find garage sale toys that would keep them interested/busy. 🙂

    My son loves for me to sing Old MacDonald. He especially loves when I run out of the typical farm animals and start using any animal I can think of and make up the sounds they make. Believe me, I reserve this for him only:) I also like to stock pile little inexpensive toys and goodies to given out throughout the trip. However, there is a catch – he has to earn them, ie. counting, saying his ABC’s, naming colors & shapes, etc.

    No kids here, but when I was a kid my parents would always let us bring one special toy or book or game along on long car rides to keep us occupied.

    We play games – like crossing off how many different states’ license plates we can find, finding the letters of the alphabet in order on billboards and signs, and the geography game where one person says a place (ex: Washington), and the next person has to name a place that starts with the last letter of the last place (ex: New Jersey). Thanks!

    I keep my kids happy by letting them play their ninetendo ds’s and by giving them fruit snacks, granola bars or other sugary treat about once every two hours.

    My best tip for traveling is to pack each child their own entertainment backpack that might include a game, favorite dvd, coloring books and crayons, snacks etc.
    This is what seems to work best for me.

    I like to buy small toys from the dollar section at Target before we travel. I also keep a stash of happy meal toys that they forgot to ask for at the end of their meals!

    I use lots of distractions. If you keep them engaged in convo or road games, they won’t be complaining so fiercely.
