As many of you know, I am a high school special education teacher in the inner city. So as you can imagine there are good (GREAT!) days and then there are not so great days! This week and most of last has seemed to be a series of not so great days…
This is why I am going to bed early tonight and snuggling up with Chicken Soup for the Soul: Teacher Tales: 101 Inspirational Stories from Great Teachers and Appreciative Students. I just know this book will help me turn my spirits around.
After teaching only 7 years I have numerous stories worthy of a book like this. Teaching is a truly rewarding (yet exhausting) profession, I love to read this book when I need a little pick me up or a smile. So it is off to bed for me…
On quick note – This would make a great “end of the year” gift or Thank You gift for a teacher. Just a thought!

I finished school many, many, many years ago. I had not planned on attending college but my high school business teacher Mrs. Tucker would not have it. She “urged” me daily to continue my education. I gave in and got my college degree. Everyone deserves a Mrs. Tucker.
Miss Trigg was an amazing woman. I was going to school during the “integration” period when bussing was going on. Miss Trigg was my first African American teacher and she was the only on at our school. She handled it with grace, enthusiasm and a great deal of love for pimply little white girls like me.
My second grade teacher inspired me for learning.

I have two favorite teachers. They were: Mrs. Topping (4th Grade – Hornell School District) and Mrs. Hurd (10th-12th grades – Greenwood Central School). I’d like to give a quick “shout out” and a thank you to both of them.

I absolutely loved my 2nd grade teacher!
She is still at the school where my children
attend, but unfortunately they weren’t able
to get her as their teacher 🙁
My 6th grade teacher, Ms. Hunter.. she was the best! She had a unique style of teaching and she made everything fun, then she left and went on to highschool which was sad, but when I got to highschool I had her in my class! It was one of the best school days ever.
I loved my Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Miyabara! She instilled in me the love of reading.
My favorite school teacher was my 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Vanderlinden who got married during our year with her and changed her name to Mrs. Anderson. She was so comforting and loving and made each of us feel important. I remember she had a time for “warm fuzzies” everyday where we shared positive feeling with each other.

Ms Moss, my kindergarten teacher. I had a crush on her. My parents took me to her house for halloween one year and she could tell I was blushing through my mask !!

My first grade teacher, Miss Campbell was so amazing! 30 years later we are still friends!!
One of my favorite teachers was Mrs. Bolls. My 2nd grade teacher. She was the best, and even came to my baptism for church.

Two of my favorite teachers were Mr Cain and Mr Salter. They made class interesting and fun.
My favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Lloyd. I always came home from school telling stories about him and saying “Mr. Lloyd said….”.
