We got a chance to see an advance screening of Paranorman last week and WE LOVED IT! By we, I mean me and my 6 year old son. It was so unique, unlike all the other kids movies out there! My son was psyched, if a movie has Zombies and ghosts you can count him in! Now, I kind of figured he would like it but what I did not expect is how much I loved it! I found myself laughing out loud (I actually looked around to see if I was disturbing anyone with my giggles). I also thought this may be more of a “boy” flick BUT NO, the little girls and mom next to me were cracking up too!
Check out the trailer but in all honesty I think it does not do the movie justice!
Synopsis:
When a small town comes under siege by zombies, who can it call? “Norman!”
ParaNorman is set in the town of Blithe Hollow, whose locals profit from mining the town’s history as the site, 300 years ago, of a famous witch hunt. 11-year-old Norman Babcock spends much of his days appreciating the finer points of scary movies and studying ghost lore. In fact, Norman is gifted with the ability to see and speak with the dead, such as his beloved grandmother. Most days, he prefers their company to that of his flustered father, spacey mother, and deeply superficial older sister Courtney. At middle school, Norman dodges bullying Alvin, confides in the impressionable Neil, and tries to tune out his blowhard teacher Mrs. Henscher.
Norman is unexpectedly contacted by his odd uncle Prenderghast, who floors him with the revelation that a centuries-old witch’s curse is real and is about to come true, and that only Norman will be able to stop it from going into overdrive and harming the townspeople. Once a septet of zombies – led by The Judge – suddenly rises from their graves, Norman finds himself caught in a wild race against time alongside Courtney, Alvin, Neil, and Neil’s musclebound older brother Mitch as Sheriff Hooper chases them all. Worse, the town is up in arms and taking up arms.
Norman bravely summons up all that makes a hero – courage and compassion – as he finds his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.
No if I have not convinced you yet to head out to the theater… check out how much effort and time it took just to get this movie on the big screen!
My favorite character was Neil… check out this funny scene and I think you will understand why!
But honestly every character in this movie is hilarious! I would love to hear which ones you loved after August 17th when ParaNorman will be in 2D and 3D theaters everywhere!

It’s All Fun and Games Until Someone Raises the Dead!
