Is Your Child Fit 4 Algebra? Find Out Now!

As a high school special education teacher, I have seen children come through my classes too many times that are unprepared for the world ahead of them. Many can’t read, write or do the basic mathematics that will be needed of them to go to college. The statistics on this problem are shocking and I am living proof that our society is in crisis… an “Algebra Crisis”. Among other education issues, our students math skills are among one of the huge issues that our kids are facing right now. They simply are not prepared! I have seen it with my own eyes. Test scores are showing it – but what do we do as parents? what do we do as teachers? Where do we start? So many questions and not enough answers!

Let’s start with the algebra issue. I am definitely not a fan of math but I definitely want my kids to be! Research shows that proficiency in algebra becomes necessary not only to get into and do well in college, but it also influences success in future careers. Unfortunately, one of our responsibilities as parents often involves helping our children with homework, including the dreaded math and algebra homework! Oh no! I think I am in trouble! Good thing dad is around!

Many believe there is an ‘algebra crisis’ in America as 66% of parents across the country believe that American students fall behind in this subject compared to other nations (based on an online survey of approximately 1000 parents). With this in mind, Sylvan developed the Fit 4 Algebra screener to help parents when it comes to providing children with the assistance they may need academically.

Where to Start?

The Fit 4 Algebra screener helps parents understand if their child is ready for algebra in the new school year through a simple screener that takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. Upon completion, parents receive an evaluation of their child’s algebra potential as well as resources to help close gaps in ability.

Have your child take the Fit 4 Algebra screener!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Sylvan Learning and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
