Holy smokes! Allergy season has my family hard this year! Sniffly noses and itchy eyes are a constant problem in my house at the moment. I am sure many of you can relate. My son’s nose is running non stop and his eyes never stop tearing up. The worst is when we go to his tee ball games and he stands out on the field rubbing his eyes and sniffling! I had to find a away to help us both get through the allergy season and have a successful baseball season as well. After many failed attempts to get rid of those allergy symptoms, I finally found what works for us. My families line of defense is OTC allergy meds and Visine! I am telling you, without Visine, I could not make it through a day of work or an entire baseball game.
Did you know that an estimated 50 million Americans suffer from allergies! That is 1 in 5 people! I am glad (in a way) to know that I am not alone. I had no idea that allergies were so common. In fact, an allergy is the fifth leading chronic disease in the U.S. among all ages, and the third most common chronic disease among children under 18 years old.
I absolutely despise my eye allergies. My eyes get so irritated and red and then I end up looking like I have been crying my eyes out for days. Sometimes my eyes even swell up! Luckily for me my allergies only seem to hit me and my son hard in the spring time.
The most frequent airborne allergens include:
o Pollen
o Pet dander
o Grass
o Dust
o Weeds
o Mold
My triggers appear to be pet dander, pollen, and grass. Luckily for us allergy sufferers, Visine has our back! I use VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief Eye Drops to temporarily relieve itchy, red eyes due to pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander. I have a bottle in my ourse, my car, my desk and my bathroom. I do not want to be without it! They are clinically proven effective for eye allergy relief and I can say that they definitely help me!
VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief Eye Drops combine an antihistamine with a redness reliever to temporarily relieve eye itchiness and redness, helping eyes get back to normal. Just use one or two drops of VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief Eye Drops throughout the day as needed to treat symptoms, up to four times a day and you should be good to go!
VISINE® was kind enough to send over some ALLERGY TIPS that I wanted to share with you:
INDOORS:
- Wash linens and clothes regularly
- Keep windows shut to keep out pollen and other outdoor allergens
- Vacuum and dust often to reduce indoor allergens, such as dust and pet dander
- Run the air conditioner or air filter to sift out allergens. Make sure to keep those air filters clean and replace them regularly
- Put allergy proof covers on pillows, mattresses and comforters to ward off dust mites
OUTDOORS:
- Check the pollen count before going outside each day – pollen counts tend to be highest 5 – 10AM
- Shower after being outdoors to remove allergens that may have stuck to you. Use a sterile saline eye wash to flush allergens out ofyour eyes
- Do not hang laundry to dry outdoors because allergens can stick to the clothes
- Glasses and sunglasses act as a barrier or shield to minimize allergens from sticking to your eyes
- If you prefer to wear contact lenses, choose a daily disposable lens, which can minimize accumulation of allergens as well. Contact lens wearers can use VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief, but need to remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting contact lenses after using the drops
