Stick to the list. Most schools send a supply list home or post it at your area stores. Make sure you have the list so you’re not buying any unnecessary items.

Prep as much as you can the night before so you aren’t going crazy trying to get everything done first thing in the morning.

shop way in advance for school supplies to get the best deals!

My favorite tip: “Pre-fill your coffee filters and stack them in an empty coffee container. Be sure to mark the lid as “ready to go.” A standard container will hold about 12 pre-filled filters.”
Back to school tip:
Check your school district’s latest dress code before buying clothes & supplies for the new school year. Due to gang affiliation, certain colors, logos, verbage, icons, etc. may be prohibited. Since you may not be able to return purchased sale items, it’s best to check first – you don’t want your wisely spent money wasted on items that can’t be used at school.

Always cover your books to help prevent damage!
I learned: Onion slicing is a breeze and tearless if you just pop a piece of chewing gum into your mouth while slicing. You will be tearless and have minty fresh breath.

You can cover books with brown paper grocery bags and decorate with stickers for a fun and cheap book cover.
Also, save up the BoxTopsForEducation that come on products you use (and eat) everyday…..Teachers love to get a huge pack of them at the beginning of the school year (or anytime)!! I save them all summer to jump start the savings for the school year. It is a great way to donate to the school of your choice.

I learned some very helpful home remedy tips from the Scott Common Sense site — for instance, a spoonful of peanut butter gets rid of the hiccups, and a mixture of apple vinegar, honey, and water is a great weight loss aid. Terrific site!

One helpful back-to-school tip I would recommend would be to take the two weeks before school begins to get your kids’ minds and bodies ready for a successful year by establishing a sleep/meal routine and turning off the TV in the morning to instead encourage them to read or engage in creative play to re-train their brains for thinking!
