Today is the day! I know I have been talking about it for day now but it is finally here. I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast and the fact that it is out of the Disney fault and available in a DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack in a huge deal to me! This is one of those movies that brings back so many childhood memories for me. I love the stunning animation and the brilliant colors (which are even better on Blu-Ray!). I still remember sitting in the movie theater watching the opening scene with my father. I feel lucky to get to share this classic with my children.
Another thing I love about these combo packs are the Digital copies – this means you can download it on to your computer (or Ipod) and you do not need a disk to play it! This is great for parents with young kids because you know how kids are with movies they love, playing it over and over until the disc is destroyed! This way you never even have to touch a disc. I love this feature so much. Also, when we travel I can just grab my laptop or Ipod and I already have movies loaded on it so I do not have to drag any extra DVDs with me!

Set in and around a quaint French village during the late 18th century, Beauty and the Beast follows the fantastic adventures of Belle, a bright and beautiful young woman who finds escape from her ordinary life, and the advances of a boorish suitor, Gaston, by reading books. Meanwhile, off in a castle in the distance, a cruel young prince is cast under the spell of an enchantress who
turns him into a tormented beast, while transforming his servants into animated household objects. In order to remove the curse, the Beast must discover a true love who will return his affection before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. When Belle’s inventor father stumbles upon the
Beast’s castle and is taken prisoner, Belle comes to the rescue and agrees to take her father’s place. With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, she sees beneath the Beast’s exterior and discovers the heart and soul of a human prince.

Hollywood’s legendary El Capitan Theater is celebrating the upcoming release of “Beauty and the Beast” for the first time on Diamond Edition Blu-ray and DVD October 5th, with an exclusive theatrical engagement of “Beauty and the Beast Sing-a-Long” from September 24th through October 7th 2010.
Only at the El Capitan Theatre will guests relive the magic and music of “Beauty and the Beast” while singing along to the words on the big screen. A special live appearance by Belle is also featured at every performance.
On select days, El Capitan guests may enjoy Breakfast with Belle at the Disney’s Soda Fountain & Studio Store, and then see the 10:45am movie! Seating is limited and reservations are required.
The El Capitan Theatre will also host a special “Tiny Tot Tuesday” on Tuesday, September 28, at 10:45am only. During this special screening of “Beauty and the Beast” parents and small children can enjoy the movie in a “Tiny Tot” friendly way – complete with lights dimmed rather than out and reduced sound levels!
