Today’s new DVD is Sesame Street: Abby & Friends – P Is for Princess! I absolutely love Abby Cadabby! I try to get my boys to watch her all the time! If you have any Abby fans in your house this is a great new DVD for them. I wish I could go to flying school (lol)
DVD SYNOPSIS
Once upon a time on Sesame Street there lived a fairy in training named Abby Cadabby, and she loved going on all kinds of adventures. She loved playing princess with friends like Rosita, but what happens when a misguided Prince (played by actor Paul Rudd) tries to rescue them? Pretending and the Letter P are the focus of two more stories in this enchanting title that also features fun with Natalie Portman and Elmo in “The Princess and The Elephant”. This DVD also includes two bonus episodes of Sesame Street’s ground-breaking new CGI animated series “Abby’s Flying Fairy School”. (45mins for children ages two through five)
My Two Cents:
I really appreciate that Abby and Friends: P is for Princess touches upon many different educational goals with an overarching theme that encourages children to use their imagination while engaging in pretend play. In addition, my kids were able to see Abby and Elmo address problem solving, such as in “The Princess and the Elephant,” when the Sesame Street friends must generate a solution to a problem. Finally, they even use some math skills, such as relational concepts (high, higher, highest/fast, faster, fastest) in the story “Abby and Rosita Play Princess.” I can definitely see Sesame Street trying to incorporate useful, educational concepts and skills into there programming.
