I have another great idea to get through those last couple days of August! If you are still trying to avoid those dread “I’m Bored” situations, maybe a few crafts could help get you through the days. Now I admit, I am not great at coming up with crafts on my own. I am more of a “from a kit” kind of mom! So when I saw these activity kits from Animal Planet at Michaels, I knew they were right up my alley
Ranging from cast and fossils to paint-by-number and create-your own gliders, this fun line of Animal Planet do-it-yourself kits features “color and create” flip books and “stamps n stickers,” plus make-your-own kits for birdhouses and bug catching. It seems like they have something for everyone in this line!
Now, here is hoping this “not so crafty” mom can actually do the kits… I will let you know!
Available exclusively at Michaels.
On to the Giveaway!
I have 2 Animal Planet Craft and Activity Kits for Kids (shown below) to giveaway to one of my lovely readers.

My name is Sara, I am a wife, a mom to 2 jokers also known as my little boys (a 5 year and 2yr old!), and a Special Education High School teacher...not sure I have room for anything else but I sure can try!

I love to sit and color with my kids. I never did any crafts with my mom, so I try to do what I can with my kiddos.

I used to make all sorts of crafts when I was little. I took an old plastic container that play-do came in to make a piggy bank. cut a hole in the lid, clean it all out, and make ears for the top of the lid so it looks like a pig. I kind of forget the rest but it was cute.
Ok! Super duper easy!!! You can make your own snowflake window clings! Get a snowflake pattern or picture from the internet as your template…lay a piece of wax paper over it…using PUFFY PAINT (in little tubes at craft store $1-1.50) TRACE the design. Keep your lines somewhat thin and connected….let dry completely…like over night and VOILA! Peel off and they STICK to the windows!! Thanks to FAMILY FUN MAGAZINE for that one!
My favorite craft memory was making stained glass projects …. my mom would buy the kits and we would fill in the metal template with little plastic colored pieces that came with the kit…then you’d bake them in the oven for a few mins….after they melted you’d have a really pretty window decoration…. I still have a couple that I put on my xmas tree to this day….and I’m 44 now…!

I like to take candles and put dried flowers on them (after placing flowers where you want them on the candle, dip the candle in clear wax) They are very easy, quick and make excellent gifts. You can even dress them up more by adding ribbons and you don’t have to limit it to dried flowers, you can pretty much put anything you want on the candles.

The only craft we have done so far involves stickers. It’s easy for my son to do and it causes less stress on me!!! That’s my “tip.”
my favorite craft memory was when my grandma would get out the Mod Podge and we would find various things around the house to cover! I miss those days!

I like to buy the cookie houses after holidays (Wilton has cute ones for Easter, Valentines, etc) and then slap some frosting on them and let the kids decorate with candy! They are super cheap after the holiday has past, but everything in them is still good – especially nice for rainy days!!
Just about the only craft I remember making as a child was one summer at VBS we made a collage out of noodles and dried beans. I loved getting to pick what I put where on my sheet!
