On Wednesday I told you all my first step to finding myself after the birth of my son is to stay hydrated. That step seems simple compared to step two.
Step 2: Stay Positive!
I am embarrassed to admit that I spent the last couple weeks of my pregnancy sitting on my coach doing mainly two things: watching reality TV and thinking about how to lose my baby weight. It was during this time that I found a show that really inspired me – Ruby. The focus of this Style Network series is one woman’s struggle with obesity. Ruby weighs 500 pounds, and if she doesn’t lose weight, she could die. The part of the show that inspires me is how Ruby is able to live each day with such a positive outlook. She is always smiling and surrounded by supportive friends and family. She never blames anyone else for the situation she is in and I admire that. I NEED to be like that if I want to “find myself” again.
Ruby and her show made me realize that I need to be positive in order to be successful. I need to surround myself with people who are supportive and positive but most importantly I need to be positive and keep smiling.
I recommend you check out this show. In my opinion it is not the typical reality TV show. I love how it shows a regular person dealing with a very common problem (weight loss). Yes, she has a lot to lose but I can definitely relate and I think many people can too even if you only have a few pounds to lose.
So what do you do if you do not receive the Style Network? The good news is that most of the first season of Ruby just came out on DVD. Ruby: A Journey to Lose the First 100 lbs. was released July 7th (coinciding with the starting of the 2nd season on the Style network on July 5th). The DVD includes six favorite episodes from the first season of Ruby, which originally aired in the fall of 2008, plus 30 minutes of unaired special features including workouts, diet tips, and fashion tips to help you get started on your own journey. It has a running time of 173 minutes.
The DVD retails at $14.98 and you can check it out here on Amazon or you can try to win 1 of 3 copies in my giveaway below.

Cheers to Ruby!!!

Some really great ideas on this site, and I adore the pastel colours used on the site as well. It is my friends birthday coming up soon and I am going to send photo greeting cards as a way to make a personalised card. As far as gift ideas go, I think I am going to print off some pictures and make a collage. I can write a nice message in the center. Hopefully this will be something nice which can be put in the home and to look back over years to come.
