Costco Celebrates National Pork Month ($2.50 Off Boneless Pork Chops & Roasts) #CostcoPork

Costco is kicking off National Pork Month with two delicious deals. From October 3 through October 9, get $2.50 off boneless pork chops and roasts. These versatile cuts cook up deliciously for simple family dinners of any size.
I stopped off at Costco today and picked up some boneless pork chops for tonight dinner. I will be sure to share it with you later this week! But before I cooked up some pork chops I had to do a little homework since I had never prepared them before!

Did You Know:

Costco’s “In The Warehouse” provides flavorful recipes and tips for preparing all of Costco’s cuts of pork. Check back weekly for fun, new information on Costco’s featured cuts: http://shop.costco.com/In-The-Warehouse/Index

Another great resource cooking pork (for those of us who have never cooked it before!) is PorkBeInspired.com. Specifically, visit http://www.porkbeinspired.com/CutsAndCooking.aspx  for information on different cuts of pork. I went straight to the section on chops since that is what I am cooking tonight! There is some great recipes and info that was much needed on my part.

OK, so I may be living under a rock but I just found out that in May, the USDA reduced the temperature guideline for pork loins, chops and roasts from 160 to 145 degrees F, with a three-minute rest. I guess this will yield a juicy, flavorful product. Also I read that the pork may be pinker in color than most home cooks are used to but that I should not be alarmed by this! Good to know right! I am always so concerned about under cooking my families dinner. Just a  notes, since i was curious, Ground pork, like all ground meat, should be cooked to 160 degrees.

Wish me luck with my pork chops tonight! Any tips would be appreciated!

  1. It’s good to know about the FDA reducing the internal meat temp like
that. I wasn’t aware of that either. I’m still getting all of the pink out of
mine before I eat it, I just can’t get myself to eat it if it’s pink at all. I’m the same way with beef. Guess once you’re raised a “well done” only way that’s what you stick too. I’ve never shopped at Costco before here in Indy.
