I have a giveaway today that is very close to my heart. Since I am a mom and a English teacher in a high school in a very low income area, I am very passionate about reading. I am so happy to be able to tell you about this great promotion that Cheerios is running.
The giveaway has ended. You can see who won here.

Access to books is essential to reading development. However, did you know that over 80 percent of childcare centers serving low-income children lack age-appropriate books? And a recent study shows that the ratio of books per child in middle income neighborhoods is 13 to 1, while in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children.
The Cheerios family of cereals, First Book and Jon Scieszka, author of the popular “Trucktown” series and other children´s books, have joined together to deliver 100,000 books to community-based programs serving children in need, All you have to do is go online with your child and test your combined knowledge of children´s books by answering trivia questions related to “Trucktown” and other great children´s books.
For every trivia question answered correctly, you can cast one vote for the state you would like to receive books. The five states receiving the most votes will get 20,000 books each, for a total of 100,000 books. Simply visit here to test your knowledge and start voting. ![]()
Just a quick note about the “Trucktown” book series. My son received the book Truckery Rhymes (a collection of lively truck-themed “Mother Goose” rhymes) recently and he loves it! I highly recommend the “Trucktown” books by Jon Scieszka.

My name is Sara, I am a wife, a mom to 2 jokers also known as my little boys (a 5 year and 2yr old!), and a Special Education High School teacher...not sure I have room for anything else but I sure can try!

This is a terrific giveaway – thanks for the chance to win and for bringing light on this campaign. I’m concerned about the literacy rates in my state of Ohio, especially since our public library system’s funding has been drastically cut, so I’m hopeful that the situation can be reversed!

I took the quizzes a week or two ago and got 28 out of 44 correct. Not too bad, since I hadn’t read some of the books!
