A Kindle for Kids? The New Vtech V.Reader Gets Kids Excited to Sit Down and Read!

vreader       For Father’s Day my sister and I bought our dad a Kindle (I know he is a lucky guy right!) anyway little did I know that Beefaroni (my 4 year old) was watching closely to his Granddad and his gift. “Beef” adores his Granddad and everything he does, so when he received his Kindle, Beef must have tucked it away in to his memory and waited for the right time to ask for one for himself because earlier this week out comes this statement – “Mom, I NEED a Kindle!”. I was flabbergasted. I had no idea that he knew what a Kindle was or what it was for. So I asked him what he would do with it and he responded that he would sit with his Granddad and read it with him….AWWW. So after deciding that a Kindle was not an age appropriate choice for a 4 year old. I decided that the new Vtech V.Reader might satisfy his need.

Now I ,thanks to you my lovely readers, was sent one for free, but they are also available now at Target and stores nationwide very soon.  I told my son about his new V. Reader, how he can use it to read just like his Granddad and he was super excited in fact he has not put it down yet! I asked him where his favorite reading spot was and he went on and on. He simply could not narrow it down to one spot!

Here are his top three:

1. Next to his Granddad ANYWHERE!

2. On his Nana’s couch under his green blanket.

3. In bed with mom and dad.

(ok, can I just say I love him so much – what a great heart he has!)

Anyway, enough gushing. In the next couple weeks I will be having some fun posts WITH GIVEAWAYS from VTECH to celebrate the Vtech V.Reader launch so look out for those.

But for now I would love to hear about where you and your little ones favorite places to read are. I would even love to see some pictures!

Also, since I am a teacher and a mom, I have to take this time to say that during the summer it is very hard (I know!) to find time to read so I want to promote the Summer Smarts Reading Pledge. The first 100 moms and dads to sign get a free V.Reader! We all have plans and schedules to follow but finding those little moments to read and relax means the world to our little ones!

Recently Vtech conducted the "Summer Smarts" survey and the findings showed that moms need more help encouraging their kids to read and maintain their summer smarts.

We need help and that is where the Vtech V.Reader comes in! The V.Reader is recommended for ages 3 to 7 years with a price tag of $59.99

What is it you ask?

It is an Animated e-Book System.  Children who are new to reading will have fun practicing their reading skills. VTech’s V.Reader provides the necessary building blocks for kids to grow into a fluent reader as they learn reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, word-building and definitions that are easy for them to comprehend.

toystory3vreader        Stories come to life as children engage with vivid animation, narration, character voices, graphics, sounds and music as they watch, read, interact and learn. With the V.Reader, they can follow their favorite animated characters such as Toy Story, Shrek and Dora the Explorer, play interactive reading games and view the story dictionary which helps children discover the context of the stories.

More than 100 additional stories will be available via a download library located on the VTech website, including some free titles, themes and avatars kids can use to customize their e-books. Additionally, each time a child’s V.Reader is connected to a PC or Mac computer, their reading scores are automatically updated to their parent’s registered account. Through this account, parents receive an overview of how their child is progressing through key learning curriculum, all of which are tailored to his or her age.

So tell me where is you or your little ones favorite reading spot?siggydealiciousmom

This is a really cute idea and I am very glad that they came up with it. I know that kids are really into playing with Mom & Dads Kindles and iPads. It’s great that they have something just for them.

My daughter likes to sit at the dining room table and read. My son loves to sit outside on our balcony and read. As for me I read where ever and whenever I can. Often I read in the car at the bus stop waiting for the kids to get home.
