Consumer Reports Best Baby Products Book Giveaway (Closed)

***The giveaway has ended and the winner has been notified. You can see who won here.***

baby-bottle-i-stock Everyone has heard that breast is best for baby, but there are times when regardless of best intentions formula is essential. For example, mom doesn’t have enough milk, has multiples, mom is unable to pump at work, etc. For me, breastfeeding was not an option due to medication that I am on due to Epilepsy. As much as I longed to breastfeed my babies I was unable to for both the safety of the baby and myself.

On those occasions, it is important for new moms (like myself) to get the best value for our dollar, while also safe guarding our baby’s health. Believe me I know how expensive formula is and I know how it feels to buy those cans of formula and debate whether store brand is “just as good” as the name brands. Well. according to the 10th edition of Consumer Reports Best Baby Products, store brand formula is as nutritious for babies as nationally advertised brands. There are even coupons available for store brand formulas here if you are interested.

You may be wondering why I am bringing this up? Well, as of October, a new Woman, Infants, and Children’s (WIC) program initiative designed to promote breastfeeding reduces infant-formula subsides by up to 26% so parents who previously had most of their formula paid for by WIC may now have to purchase formula on their own. This is an issue close to my heart both because I had to solely formula feed my children by no choice of my own and because I work in a very low income area of Los Angeles where when woman needs to use the WIC program I would hope they would have every available feeding option available to their babies. Since I know sometimes breastfeeding is not always an option.

Anyways thanks for listening to me ramble on. Now on to my giveaway!

K’NEX Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection Review

85374m-display If you are like me, when you hear the brand name, K’NEX you think of older kids and lots of small parts right? I am sure most of us think K’NEX is not for a 3 year old…

Well, not anymore! K’NEX just came out with the Sesame Street Neighborhood collection which is perfect for all our little 2-5 year olds that want so badly to play with all the “big boy and girl” toys but just aren’t ready for them yet.

My son was super psyched when Team Mom and K’NEX sent us a Neighborhood Collection 1-2-3 Brownstone – along with the NEW smaller scale buildable Elmo and Cookie Monster. He began immediately building his own Sesame Street neighborhood! The set includes a "Play & Learn" activity sheet and additional building ideas. Loaded with 40 parts to build the famous 1-2-3 Brownstone, complete with tiny stoop, Elmo, Cookie Monster, trees and a fire hydrant. image.php

My son loves blocks and building so I new this set  would be right down his alley. He loved creating all of his favorite Sesame Street friends! The colorful chunky parts make it easy for his small hands to snap, stack and plug together. I could see him thinking and imagining different possibilities as he worked with this new toy. I could see the benefits of this toy immediately.

BENEFITS of Sesame Street Building Sets

These Sesame Street Neighborhood sets are sold at Target, Walmart and ToysRus for between $9.99 and $19.99

My son (and I ) recommend these sets highly HIGHLY!

Lastly I wanted to let you know about a fun video contest that K’NEX has going on right now:
